The Window

Posted on September 14th, 2006 in General Trivia

Sometimes technology eludes us here at Faces so in lieu of actual pictures, we thought we’d provide some information about our front window for anyones who’s interested.

First of all for those of you who pay attention, you may have noticed that the window is broken up into 4 sections. This is a feature that we alternate between playing up and ignoring entirely. For example, the current window is split up into 3 sections, each of the end sections are dedicated to fashion accessories and the center 2 are showing art (you’ll have to come down to see exactly what is in them yourself).
Sometimes all 4 will show different products, and sometimes it will be one continuous window that spans across all 4 sections.

The Faces front window can be as much a piece of art as it can be a marketing tool. There are times when it has no product that we sell in the store in it at all. Regardless of that, it is always interesting and always worth a second look, just to make sure you took it all in!

See you next time around, hopefully with pictures!

Talk Like a Pirate Day

Posted on September 12th, 2006 in Store Happenings

So over here at Faces we’ve made it a tradition to celebrate Talk Like a Pirate Day. This annual event, happening every Sept. 19th without fail, is exactly what it sounds like: a day to commune with your inner pirate and generally have some fun. The day originates from a Dave Barry column and you can get the whole story by clicking here.

Incense Stories

Anyone who is familiar with downtown Northampton is doubtless also familiar with the men who sell incense for charity, out on the streets, every day. Well this week at Faces we were forced to take drastic measures, and ask them to move their business to the front of someone elses store. A large number of customers had told us they felt uncomfortable darting in and out of the store as they struggled to avoid these persistent salesmen. The question is, did we do the right thing? Was a tiny majority of our customers over represented in this or do you all agree that you want to be able to walk in and out without the sales pitch. Let us know!
