A Short Interview with Jane Austin and Marie Antoinette

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

Interviewer- “Hello everyone, welcome to the Faces MySpace Page. Today we’ve got two great guests with us today. The ghosts of Jane Austen and Marie… correct me if I’m saying this wrong… Antoinette?”
Marie- “That is correct, thank you. ”
Interviewer- “And we’ve brought them here today to talk about the Pacifica product line.

Ladies, it’s great to have you here today. ”
Jane- “It’s great to be here. ”
Interviewer- “So let’s begin, Pacifica makes candles, soaps, perfumes, and body butter in a wide array of tropical fragrances from all natural soy and plant sources. We sent some via time machine back to these lovely ladies to find out what they thought. Now, we understand it’s been many… many years since, but what did you think about the products. How did they make you feel?”
Marie- “I got my head chopped off, how do you think I felt!”
Jane- “Dear woman, no one was talking about that. ”
Marie- “Well, that’s the same day the package arrived on my doorstep.
Interviewer- “Yes and we are very sorry, it was a regrettable miscalculation and oversight on our part. You didn’t get to try the products at all?”
Marie- “No not even for a moment, though I’m sure some revolutionaries enjoyed them immensely. ”
Jane- “Madam, if I may. I was able to use them and found the products to be quite delightful. My mother and sister enjoyed them as well. They especially liked the perfumes in both solid and liquid forms. I discovered to my delight that the fragrances seemed to transform my seemingly average home into a tropical paradise. The scents were alluring, calming and even sensual. ”
Marie- “Ha! This coming from a girl who’s never even been on a date… and you’re dead! There’s no upward mobility from here, honey!”
Jane- “At least I died a pure woman… Marie. ”
Marie- “What are you trying to say?”
Jane- “Only the truth,”
Marie- “I was married to a king, I’ll have you know!”
Jane- “And we all know how that went. ”
Marie- “How dare you!”
Jane- “Oh, come now, it’s far too late to take it back, harlot. ”
Marie- “British cow!”
Jane- “Austrian goat!”
Interviewer- “Ladies, ladies! Here let me light a candle and…”

Marie- “Wait, what is… what is that heavenly smell?”
Jane- “Oh I remember this one, it’s Hawaiian Ruby Guava. ”
Marie- “It’s soothing, isn’t it? Reminds me of a tropical beach. ”

Jane- “Yes, I feel comforted. ”
Marie- “May I?”
Interviewer- “Try the perfume, certainly. ”
Marie- “This is wonderful!”
Jane- “Oh and this body butter makes my hands feel like silk. ”
Marie- “I did want to say that I think your hands are lovely. ”
Jane- “Oh… really? I… I wanted to say that when I first saw you I was taken aback by your eyes. ”
Marie- “For real? I’d always tried to draw attention away from them with my huge hair, but if you think they are nice…”
Jane- “Oh I do, say… you wouldn’t maybe want to come back to my grave after this?”
Marie- “Will there be Pacifica perfume?”
Jane- “And body butter. ”
Interviewer- “Well, I can see that you both thoroughly enjoyed the Pacifica products… and each other. Thanks for being here today. And remember Pacifica can be found at Faces. See you all again soon!”

Handmade Wooden Jewelry Now At Faces

Friday, February 15th, 2008

I sat alone on a Caribbean beach, watching the sun sink slowly into the sea. My martini had sadly gone warm and as I turned to get another I was confronted by a man wearing a backpack the wrong way round.
“Ma’am,” he began, eyes shifting left to right as if he had a secret to hide. “Want to see what’s in my bag?”
Before I could object, his hand move swiftly along the zipper and the bag flopped heavily open. I shut my eyes tight, preparing to guard against any onslaught of perversion.
A long and uncomfortable moment passed before the man cleared his throat with meaning. So taking up my courage I carefully opened one eye just a bit… and was pleased to find that his bag only contained an open box. Within the box, painted in lovely colors hung, a beautiful array of earrings.

“Hand made?” I asked stepping closer and dragging my tan fingers through my sun bleached hair with intrigue.
“Yes, Ma’am, and of all renewable sources. ” He said with pride.
“Renewable!” I exclaimed. “You operate a green business!”
“Indeed, we use only native, non endangered plant fibers such as coconut shell and palm wood. ”
“Amazing! And for how long have you been making these beauties?”
“My family and friends have been making them for more than fifty years. ”
“No… you don’t look a day over thirty!”
“I work out,”
“Say there, how would you like to sell these marvels to faraway lands, like Northampton?” I purposed.
“Northampton…” he repeated softly, his eyes glistened with joy, “They say that’s a paradise city.”
“And dreams come true in paradise, son. So, we have a deal?” I asked holding out my hand.
“We do, Ma’am, we do!” he said as we shook in partnership.
“Brilliant!”
